Getting Help with Bulimia
I know it can be daunting, at first and you will probably be afraid to tell anyone about your bulimia/eating disorder, But it is necessary for you to take the first step towards recovery.
Imagine a lifetime without worrying about calories, and exercise, not restricting what you eat, and Binging and purging.
Imagine not having to lie to your friends and family, and hiding the binges.
Imagine being confident and happy and loving life.
In order to feel this way you have to be the one to kick start the process!
You shouldn't feel ashamed about telling anyone about your eating disorder its something many people suffer from, and you should not be afraid to ask for help.
I hid my bulimia from anyone for about a year, it wasn't until I gained weight, stopped going to work and university, and realized how much this illness was destroying my life.
I knew I had to do something about it.
The first person I told was my Councillor I was so anxious to tell her I was crying, because I thought that she would judge me and think i was crazy, but I did tell her, and it really wasn't so bad, you know the saying 'a problem shared is a problem halved' well its true it really does help to get something like this off your chest.
Before seeing my doctor.
I told a friend who I felt I could trust, and as i turned out she actually had bulimia too, she had been suffering with bulimia for 10 years, I was shocked, I had lived with her for a year and I never knew.
I was really sad to hear how she had been suffering with this devastating illness for so long, I just wanted to help her.
We bonded more over our Bulimia, and we really helped each other out, I was actually the first person she had told, and I gave her the courage to go see her doctor and get the help she needed, she is now in the recovery process.
I wanted to share with you this story as I think its a lesson learned, that you never know just what someone else is going through.
I hope that you find this story encouraging, and it will help you to get the help you deserve.
